FAQs
All your questions answered!
What type of screening process does your Baby Nurse go through?
I am asked detailed questions regarding knowledge about child development, infant safety issues, scheduling, and breastfeeding. I've passed a nationwide criminal background check that includes social security verification. Trustline is California's registry of in-home child care providers, I have been cleared through a fingerprint check of records at the California Department of Justice. You may also call my personal and professional references and make that information available to you.
My CPR is current and I have 22 years’ of experience with infants. I am a certified NCS (Newborn Care Specialist), I also have various certifications and attend trainings that cover different aspects of newborn care.
How soon should I book my Baby Nurse?
I recommend booking as soon as possible, as the schedules can fill up quickly. Many expecting parents will begin the booking process when their provider gives a due date for the new baby.

What if I already had my baby and have an immediate need?

No problem! I generally can fill emergency or last-minute requests for families.

How long should I book my Baby Nurse for?
I recommend at least 2 weeks of care. However, some families will request services for up to 1 year.
What if I don’t know how long I want to keep my Baby Nurse?
I suggest putting a range. It is only required that you fulfill the minimum amount of time that you specify on the contract. In most cases, you can extend past what you’ve written on the contract, especially if you are able to give 1 to 2 weeks’ notice.
What if I’m Breastfeeding?
In the early nights after birth when the baby is likely feeding every 2-3 hours, I will offer lactation support through your breastfeeding session to ensure nursing is off to a successful start. Then we’ll provide all care after the baby has me doing the diaper changing, burping, diapering, and swaddling back to bed. The goal is for parents to never get out of bed, maximizing recuperation time. (Unless they want to get up!) Many times parents and I will text, to give each other a little message that it’s time to nurse.
Will the baby nurse put my baby on a schedule? How do I get twins on the same sleeping schedule?
We will discuss the type of care that will be the best match for your family. I specialize in sleep training, food transitions, supporting the mother, and following natural progressions. Feeding is the anchor to a baby’s schedule. When I'm talking about “getting babies on a schedule” however, what I am really saying is that we’re following a baby’s natural growth cycle and cues. When babies are just born their feeding may be on demand, since that’s what they did in the womb. Then the feeding cycle will naturally stretch to 2 hours, then 3, and then eventually 4 hours. When we feed twins at the same time, it follows that their bodies will be ready for sleep at the same time.
I have twins, help!
I adore working with twins, triplets, and higher order multiples. I help the babies get on the same schedule and sleeping through the nigh !
What accommodations are required for the Baby Nurse?
During the night care, I will cat sleep (I don't sleep deeply) when the baby is sleeping. Please provide a couch or bed. It is your choice to have me in the room with the baby or in a separate living space with a baby monitor.
You can request that I stay in the baby’s room or you can choose to provide me a separate living space with a baby monitor.
What is the Baby Nurse NOT required to take care of?
What happens while the night nanny is here?
What services do you offer?
I will not cook, clean, or do household chores. I am only responsible for the baby’s complete care, along with duties pertaining to the baby such as baby laundry, cleaning bottles/breastfeeding supplies, and keeping the nursery stocked and tidy.
By law, I am not allowed to file or cut the baby’s fingernails or toenails. However, I can assist you with this task.
